What is Lyra?

Lyra is a Tesla-sponsored benefit that connects employees and their eligible dependents with effective and convenient care for their mental and emotional well-being. Lyra combines technology, research-backed therapeutic methods and top therapists to offer personalized care at no cost to you.

What types of issues can Lyra help me solve?

Lyra can help with stress, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, sleep disorders, and other common behavioral issues. Lyra covers most outpatient behavioral health services.

How does Lyra work?

Use Lyra’s online tool or contact the care team directly to tell us about what you’re going through. Lyra will offer different care options that fit your needs and preferences, and get you started with your choice right away. Once you’ve tried a care option, Lyra’s care team checks in with you regularly to see how it’s going and will be there for you every step of the way.

How much does Lyra cost?

It’s free for U.S. benefit-eligible Tesla employees, their dependents and household members! Lyra has partnered with Tesla to cover the cost of outpatient therapy for as many in-person or live video sessions as are clinically indicated by your Lyra provider, up to 25 sessions, as long as you are eligible for benefits from your employer.

What does Lyra not cover?

Services that are not covered include: psychiatry, inpatient or residential treatment, hospitalization (including partial), intensive outpatient treatment, emergent care, long term care or counseling, prescription medication, autism spectrum disorder treatment, services for remedial education and non-evidence-based behavioral health care. Please check with your health plan or benefits portal for coverage of these excluded services.

What formats for care are available?

You can choose whether to meet in a provider’s office or by live video from any place with internet connection. The Lyra care team is also available to support you by web chat or 24/7 by phone.

Who can use Lyra?

Lyra will be available starting January 1, 2018 and is here to serve U.S. benefit-eligible Tesla employees, their dependents, and household members.

I’m new to therapy. What does it entail?

Therapy is a method of caring for your mental and emotional health — your sense of well-being which enables you to meet the demands of everyday life. Lyra only supports evidence-based therapies, which means that the methods used by Lyra providers and self-guided therapy programs have been proven to be effective. Watch this video to learn more.

What’s different about Lyra compared to my health plan?

Lyra removes many of the common barriers to finding and getting effective behavioral health care. It can be difficult to know where to start, how to evaluate and find the right support, and how to make it fit into your life and budget. Lyra does the legwork and provides these services at no cost to you.

If I'm already seeing a provider, can I continue to see them through the Lyra benefit and have the session costs covered?

In many cases, Lyra may be able to cover the cost of your current provider. Lyra understands the importance of the relationship you have with your therapist, and the Lyra care team will support maintaining that relationship and a smooth transition whenever possible.

In order for Lyra to work with your provider, they must meet the following criteria:

  • Your provider has to be willing to work with Lyra to get setup to take payment and bill Lyra for each visit.
  • Your provider has to be licensed in the state in which you reside and in good standing.
  • Your provider meets Lyra’s criteria in practicing evidence-based therapies. Lyra only works with those providers that practice evidence-based therapies. As part of the setup process, Lyra determines if the types of therapy they provide meet our guideline around evidence-based therapy.
